#164 – The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) w/ Paul Heath

164 The Day the Earth Stood Still

At last, Lincoln and Kyle have been joined by the newly emigrated Paul Heath to discuss the last in our impromptu science fiction classics month, this time being Robert Wise’s 1951 masterpiece, The Day the Earth Stood Still, which tells everybody not to be a dick to each other. Also, much of the episode is dedicated to discussing the finale of the series of Doctor Who, and also there’s talk of superhero television shows, cats throwing up in trash cans, and books about egg nog.

Be sure to subscribe to Paul’s podcasts, The Pharos Project and Hammered Horror.

#163 – Fantastic Voyage (1966)

163 Fantastic Voyage

Continuing Old Sci-Fi Movie Month, Lincoln and Kyle discuss 1966’s Fantastic Voyage, a movie where people get shrunk and enter a human body. Joe Dante later did the same thing but funnier. They marvel at the special effects, chuckle at Donald Pleasence, and muse about Raquel Welch. Also talked about are new episodes of Gotham, the newest Hobbit movie trailer, the newfound vehicular mobility of Kyle and a new job for Lincoln, and the internet sensation that is Too Many Cooks.

Next week, Paul Heath joins us! Get ready for that shit!

#162 – The Man from Planet X (1951)

162 The Man from Planet X

This week’s episode’s a short one because, well, the movie’s a short one, a spry little 70 minute low-budget alien invasion movie from 1951 called The Man from Planet X, a staple of television matinees of the time. There’s also a good amount of side-barring, and we have a brand new sponsor this week, so please pay attention for that little ad in this week’s “We’ll Be Right Back.”

If interested, here’s the Trailers From Hell entry we mention in the episode.

#161 – You’re Next (2011)

161 You're Next

This week, belatedly because they were behind on everything, Kyle and Lincoln talk about a horror movie called You’re Next, which is probably one of the best slasher/home invasion/woman empowerment movies made in a good long time. They also discuss television programs like The Flash and Doctor Who and movies like John Wick and Stonehearst Asylum. So, that gives you a good idea of what’s going on with this episode. Also, there’s some sidebars and some other such garbage.

#160 – 3 Days to Kill (2014)

160 3 Days to Kill

This week, Kyle’s back from his last-minute work trip and so he and Lincoln are free to discuss (and have a lot of unrelated sidebars within the discussion of) McG’s 2014 film 3 Days to Kill which was chosen because Kevin Costner’s in it. It came out in February, where most movies go to die, not not as horribly as January, alternately known as Fuck You, It’s January. Anyway, they talk about it and other things. You know the drill be now.

Be sure to watch Lincoln’s webseries Boyfriend Training which premieres Thursday, October 30th.

#159 – Desperado (1995) w/ Ali Axelrad

159 Desperado

This week, Kyle was very quickly whisked away to a higher latitude for work, and so Lincoln was forced to watch the movie Kyle picked for Directors Not Directing Month, Robert Rodriguez’s Desperado, without him. However, he was joined by his good buddy, actress Ali Axelrad, to talk about this and other such televisual things, so it all worked out. Fun fact: Ali likes goofy looking white guys. She says so herself!

#158 – Inglourious Basterds (2009)

158 Inglourious Basterds

To begin the month of movies in which directors act in other people’s flicks, Lincoln has chosen to discuss Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, which features director Eli Roth as a beefy Jewish soldier. Kyle’s perfectly fine with this choice seeing as Basterds is one of his favorite movies, as you’ll hear when he prattles on incessantly about it. Also discussed are The FlashArrow, a play Lincoln saw that was ruined by a joke Kyle made earlier in life, and other things such as examples.

#157 – Hardware (1990) w/ Lucy Horton

157 Hardware

This week, Lincoln and Kyle are joined by actress, singer, dancer, and alternate groomsman Lucy Horton, an Englishwoman living in New York City who doesn’t sound like it at all, except sometimes she does. Together they discuss the 1990 cyberpunk film Hardware as well as how Lincoln has taken a lot of Lucy’s non-sexual firsts, how Gotham got better with its second episode, Lincoln turning 30, and how gross Porkins is. Like, super gross.

Lucy co-starred in Lincoln’s short film Pillow Talk, which you should watch, and be sure to follow her on Twitter because she’s cool.

#156 – 5 Dolls for an August Moon (1970)

156 Dolls

A long time ago, in a galaxy that’s the same distance away as the galaxy you’re in currently, Kyle and Lincoln did a whole month looking at movies directed by the Italian maestro of the macabre, Mario Bava. Well, Lincoln’s chosen to bring it back, bring it back, all the way to Hackinsack by picking another film by Bava, 5 Dolls for an August Moon, which is basically an Agatha Christie mystery with naked ’70s women. They also discuss the new pilot Gotham, Lincoln saw Kevin Smith’s new movie Tusk, and Kyle watched a slew of documentary films. So stick all of that in your pipe and put your pipe down because it’s bad for you.
