#169 – HIMYM “The Limo” Commentary

169 HIMYM The Limo

Just because we’re lazy, for this year’s New Years episode, all we’re doing is bantering for ten minutes and then doing a commentary of How I Met Your Mother Season 1, Episode 11 “The Limo,” in which Ted rents a limousine for the gang on New Years Eve. It’s a fun episode and everything. Please listen along!

And thanks for listening to us throughout 2014. As a little added bonus, on actual New Years Eve, we’ll be giving you a throwback bonus episode from all the way back to our first New Years Eve as a podcast. Enjoy that!

#168 – Community Ep S2 E11 Commentary

168 Community Xmas

Happy Holidays, you all! In honor of it being the holidays, and in honor of Lincoln having just returned to the country after a super honeymoon, most of this episode is a catch-up but there will be a holiday tinge when they do a commentary of Community Season 2, Episode 11 “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas,” which has all the folks living inside Abed’s claymation holiday special fantasy. That’s what we call fun!

If you think this is fun/time-wasty, just wait until next week’s New Years episode…

#165 – Ernest Saves Christmas (1988)

165 Ernest Saves Christmas

Because Mr. Lincoln is a fan of rushing the Christmas season, he has chosen for this week’s barely-December film, Ernest Saves Christmas from 1988 starring Jim Varney as Ernest P. Worrell and a fisheye lens as his best friend Vern. Besides the movie itself, the boys are fascinated with the history of Ernest as an entity, going from local TV commercial celeb, to national commercial celeb, to Emmy-winning childrens’ TV host, to making a series of progressively stupid movies. Quite a weird career, there. Also discussed are plays friends are in, Lincoln’s getting way into The West Wing, and Kyle’s getting way into nothing.

#154 – Crossworlds (1996)

154 Crossworlds

Kyle is back in LA and Lincoln is back in his apartment after they both were in a mansion for the Hayes/Riendeau nuptials. You’ll get to hear a lot about them, as well as some bantering about things watched, things purchased, things broken, and things half remembered while they both try to get through talking about 1996’s Crossworlds, a direct-to-cable sci-fi movie starring Rutger Hauer and Josh Charles.

#153 – Spaced Season 2 Episode 5 Commentary

153 TV Funtime - Spaced - 'Gone'

With Lincoln getting married and Kyle assisting Lincoln getting married (if the best man is really the Best Man, then why doesn’t the bride marry him?), they just didn’t have time for a full movie discussion this week. BUT they do have a little treat for you: commentary on their favorite episode of one of their favorite television programs ever – SPACED written by and starring Jessica Hynes (nee Stevenson) and Simon Pegg and directed by young Edgar Wright. It’s season 2, episode 5 and it’s only 24 minutes, if you worry about the time commitment. Give the ep a watch and then listen or do both at the same time; we don’t run your life. Enjoy!! And we’ll be back with full flagship WTFAYW next week.

#147 – Cannibal! The Musical (1993) w/ Katrina Griffiths

147 Cannibal

Lincoln is off taming shrews, so Kyle wraps up the month as he should, with another Canadian! Katrina Griffiths of the Verity! Podcast joins him to talk about her pick “Cannibal! The Musical”. They ramble on about different things Colorado-related, Katrina’s love of Mark Sheppard, and the brilliance of Trey Parker (he’s pretty great, you guys).

Lincoln’s back next week with frequent guests Joey Nicole Thomas and Rob Walker to talk about “Raiders of the Lost Ark”!

Follow Katrina on Twitter (@xanister) and follow her Tumblr

And if you haven’t yet, check out Lincoln’s short film Pillow Talk on his website

#146 – The Mummy (1999) w/ Stephanie Cooke

146 Mummy

We continue Guests From Canada Month by welcoming back writer and podcaster Stephanie Cooke to the show. This time, she and Kyle talk about Stephen Sommers’ 1999 action-adventure film The Mummy. Does it still hold up 15 years later? Also discussed are science fiction films of the summer, why Van Helsing was nothing but garbage, the comedic nature of snooty English people saying “Totes,” and if Canadian people have accents (they do).

Follow Stephanie on Twitter and check out her podcasts Talking Comics and The Missfits.

#142 – Burke and Hare (2010)

142 Burke and Hare

Are we back? Yes? Okay. Kyle and Lincoln are back at full strength and in fine form for an episode about the 2010 John Landis film Burke and Hare, starring Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis, as well as half the cast of Spaced and several other British people. They also discuss the true case on which the film was based. Silly stuff includes more about how Kyle doesn’t care about his dead body and how Lincoln is terrified of tornados and snakes, but oh so much greater is his fear that one day a Snakenado will exist.

#141 – The Big Lebowski (1998) w/ Brian Crawford Scott & Rachel Riendeau

141 The Big Lebowski

This week, Kyle’s in foggy (although actually gorgeous and summery) Londontown and Lincoln is left to discuss one of the best comedies of all time, Joel and Ethan Coen’s The Big Lebowski, starring Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi. To do this, he has enlisted the help of two people that he has access to a lot: his fiance and co-cat owner Rachel Riendeau and past and future guest former Ringmaster Brian Crawford Scott.

And hey! All three of them are in the new short film Pillow Talk which should be finished and ready for you to see, hear, and fondle very shortly. Stay tuned!
